Upcoming Public Lecture by Professor Gunnar Björnsson

Professor Gunnar Björnsson will give a Public Lecture on Thursday 24th of October 2013 in Lecture Theatre 270 (Old College) on "Shared responsibility: Climate change, structural injustice, and the many hands problem".

This Lecture is part of the 2013/2014 Northern Scholar Lecture series.

The Guardian has recently highlighted Eidyn's "Introduction to Philosophy" and "Philosophy and the Sciences" MOOCs in "Study a Mooc with one of the world's top universities":

"We already run 50 online master's degrees, so this was a logical expansion," says Professor Jeff Haywood, Edinburgh's vice-principal. "It's an investment in pedagogic research. How am I going to teach introductory philosophy to 100,000 people? That's what I call educational R&D.

On Monday 28 October 2013 (5.30-6.30pm, Playfair Library, Old College) Baroness Onora O'Neill gives a Gifford Lecture in memory of Susan Manning (1953-2013): 'From Toleration to Freedom of Expression'.

From the 4th to the 14th of  November 2013 (5.30-6.30pm, Assembly Hall) Lord Williams of Oystermouth gives a series of Gifford lectures on 'Making representations: religious faith and the habits of language'.
