Our "Philosophy and the Sciences" MOOC starts on the 20th October 2014...why not take part?

ollowing up on our highly successful 'Introduction to Philosophy' (over 100,000 people from around the world signed up), we have now developed a new MOOC: Philosophy and The Sciences.

This free, 7 week, online course has been developed in collaboration with 11 academics spanning a wide range of disciplines across the University including Linguistics, Psychology, Astronomy, the Institute for Adaptive & Neural Computation, and the Institute for Perception, Action & Behaviour to create a truly unique interdisciplinary course.

Every week a philosopher and a scientist will giude your through a wide-array of topics ranging from philosophy of cosmology, to philosophy of cognitive sciences. We will address questions such as:

  • What is the origin of our universe?
  • What are dark matter and dark energy?
  • What is our role in the universe as human agents capable of knowledge?
  • What makes us intelligent cognitive agents seemingly endowed with consciousness?
