Professor Gunnar Björnsson will give a Public Lecture on Thursday 24th of October 2013 in Lecture Theatre 270 (Old College) on "Shared responsibility: Climate change, structural injustice, and the many hands problem".
This Lecture is part of the 2013/2014 Northern Scholar Lecture series.
Many of the major problems facing the world today, such as climate change and global injustice, are extraordinarily complex. They are caused or sustained not by the actions of one identifiable human being, but by the actions of multiple agents, including corporations, nations, and organisations. In this talk, Gunnar Björnsson will investigate the nature of responsibility and obligations: Even if it cannot be my obligation to prevent catastrophic climate change, it might be ours.
