Born in the Netherlands, Patrick Schotanus has worked internationally in finance and investment management for over twenty years, including assignments in New York, London, and Singapore. Currently he works as the global investment strategist of Kames Capital in Edinburgh, UK, and is a senior member of the Multi Asset Group, which manages a number of multi-asset funds.Patrick completed a PhD in complex psychology at the University of Essex. His thesis introduced the Market Mind Hypothesis (MMH). The premise of MMH is the market as an extended mind-body with the specific proposition that capital markets manifest collective consciousness, referred to as “the market’s mind”. Patrick’s research emphasizes the unconscious origin and phenomenal culmination of price discovery which escape axiomatic capture. His technical papers have been published in various peer-reviewed journals. In addition, he has a Master of Business Administration (MBA, 1990) from the University of Groningen and a Master of Financial Engineering (MFE, 2002) from the University of California at Berkeley. His professional investment qualifications include the Certified European Financial Analyst and Chartered Market Technician designations.
